As reported by Business Insider, a doctor with the Boston Medical Center confirmed that there is no regulation for beauty products after asbestos, a known cancer-causer, was found in makeup sold at Claire's twice in 2019. The trace amounts were found in concealer as well as sparkly makeup marketed to kids at Claire's. In March 2019, Claire's voluntarily recalled some of its eye shadow and face powder after asbestos was found in those products as well. While Europe has banned over 1,300 chemicals from beauty products sold there, the US bans only 11.
