As written in the Bangor Daily News, at least eight doctors are resigning from Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center during the administration's efforts to reduce physician ranks, cut physician benefits and have less doctors work each day, forcing those on duty to care for more patients on a shift. The eight who have submitted their resignations since the beginning of March 2019 belong to a group of about 45 hospitalists. Their resignations take effect in summer 2019, and come as the group has been negotiating a new contract with hospital administrators that would eliminate all paid time off. And 12 more hospitalists have also recently decided to resign.
