Fox News reports Sgt. 1st Class Richard Stayskal is fighting for the right for military personnel to file a lawsuit for malpractice. Stayskal was misdiagnosed for six months with pneumonia and a number of other issues all the while having a bleeding mass in his lungs. He was finally diagnosed with stage three lung cancer and had spread to other organs in his body. Stayskal testified in front of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on April 30, 2019, and a bi-partisan bill named after Stayskal has since been introduced by Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif. The legislation is going through Congress. The DOD did not respond to a request for comment.
