As written in the Bangor Daily News, an upsurge in hospital consolidations in Maine began in October 2013 when St. Andrews Hospital merged with Miles Memorial Hospital to form LincolnHealth, part of MaineHealth. The same month, the former Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems bought Mercy Hospital, VNA Home Health Hospice, an addiction treatment center and Mercy’s primary and urgent care centers. In January 2014, Southern Maine Medical Center and Goodall Hospital merged to become Southern Maine Health Care. In August 2015, Mid Coast Health bought Parkview Adventists Medical Center out of bankruptcy to create Mid Coast-Parkview Health. And in February 2019, Mayo Regional Hospital voted to merge with the Northern Light Health, which agreed to the merger in March 2019.
