HealthcareDive is reporting Partners HealthCare has withdrawn from its plans to purchase Care New England, a three-hospital system located in Providence, RI. Care New England recently reopened negotiations with Lifespan and Brown University to develop an academic medical center. The deal to explore the Partners/Care New England merger was signed about a year ago with no details divulged. Although talks between Care New England and Lifespan fell apart last year, Gov. Gina Raimondo is inviting both parties and Brown University to start talks again to create a strong academic medical center.
