NBC Channel 2 News reports that the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) hosted a webinar with members about violence in healthcare settings after the recent shootings at The Regional Medical Center (TRMC) of Orangeburg & Calhoun and Laurens County Hospital. It was suggested that all healthcare employees receive active shooter training from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, but that staff be aware that dangers don't always occur with a gun. According to the SCHA, South Carolina is one of three states in the nation without legal protections in place for healthcare workers.
