The Antelope Valley Press is reporting Antelope Valley Hospital is planning a series of town hall meetings for the community to discuss the hospital's future, including plans for a new facility. The meetings will be lead by CEO Edward Mirzabegian and his leadership team with time for the community to ask questions during the 90-minute sessions. The first meeting will be held on September 12, 2019, at 6:30 pm at the Community Resource Center, 44151 15th St. West, Lancaster, CA. Subsequent meetings will be held at various locations later in September and October. The meeting agenda includes discussion of expanding medical services to meet the needs of the community, seismic standards and the status of the current facility, campus constraints for a new facility, and the possibility of a new facility within the next six years to meet state seismic standards. In May 2019, the Antelope Valley Healthcare District Board of Directors approved $9 million to pay RBB Architects, Inc. for the initial architectural, structural and environmental planning of a new facility. The estimated price tag for the 370-bed facility is $400 million to be provided by private sources and possibly a public bond measure.
